Genesis Cloud Goes NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3060 Ti GPU

As we set up our second data center in Southern Norway, we also introduce a new GPU instance type for that location: the NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3060 Ti. For almost the same price as the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti, this GPU type offers more power and better technology. Some facts in a nutshell:

NVIDIA architecture:

 
• Compared to the outdated pascal architecture (from 2016) of the GTX 1080 Ti, the RTX 3060 Ti offers a better performance using Ampere Architecture (from 2021).

Memory type:

 
•    The GTX 1080 Ti comes with GDDR5X memory, so the RTX 3060 Ti is equipped with GDDR6.  
 
•    That means an increase of performance by a 50% margin in almost all performance metrics compared to the GDDR5X. Plus an increase in speed (1750 MHz compared to 1376 MHz).

CUDA Cores:

 
• Here, the RTX 3060 Ti offers more parallel processes with 6864 CUDA cores compared to 3584 from the GTX 1080 Ti.

Clock Speed:

 
• This is probably the most significant difference between the RTX 3060 Ti and the GTX 1080 Ti. The 1080 Ti has a base clock of 1480 MHz, compared to the 3060 Ti’s base clock of 1.41 GHz. While the boost clock of the 1080 Ti performs at 1582 MHz, the 3060 Ti is much faster here, with a boost clock of 1.67 GHz.
